Going along Taiwan Blvd, you'll notice many newly established buildings.
It gives testament to the fast-paced development of the re-planning district in the past 20 years.
Modern tall buildings have become a good representation of this city.
You can still find some special places that are in sharp contrast to this phenomena. Not far away from the train station is a Banana New Paradise Restaurant.
A scrapped railcar with cartoon paintings by the front entrance gives away some hints that this restaurant brims with cultural arts. The interior is a true hybrid of a restaurant and vintage museum!
You get a glimpse of what Taiwan was like in its old days. There are an old school grocery store, barbershop, vintage taxi, and even an old dental examination room with instruments all situated inside a glass house.
This is certainly an uncommon sight inside a metropolis. You can regularly see local tourists as well as tourists from Hong Kong and Singapore taking pictures here.
The eastern dishes here are delicious. We ordered Sweet Potato Leaves, Stir-fried Beef with Green Onion, Pan-fried Radish Cake, Shaomai Dumpling, Steamed Cod Fish with Crispy Bean and Wine Chicken.
Banana New Paradise is located on No. 111 section 2 Shuang-shi Road, North District, Taichung City.
